Presented at the 2010 International Design Parade competition, Serpentine is a chair that’s made to stay outside year round. The delicate metal structure echoes the stark winter vegetation. And when summer weather returns, the Serpentine chair dons a series of soft, elongated cushions that wind in and out of the seatback and armrests. The metal structure remains visible but cannot be felt by those seated in this chameleon chair. The snake-like cushions create an inviting look that transforms and enriches the structure, a mirror image of the surrounding plant life that changes with each new season.
